Stop module with damping ASM-605
For stopping and separating of one or more accumulated workpiece carriers on a defined workpiece carrier stop surface.
With the ASM-605 stop module series, the stop does not automatically extend in its lowered position.
Instead, two additional air connections allow the stop to be extended and retracted independently.
This enables the stopper, with a custom stop geometry, to be used as a lowerable corner stop module, behind a lift transverse unit.

DEVICE DESIGN
Stop module with adjustable air damping.
With the ASM-605 stop module series, the stop does not automatically extend in its lowered position.
Instead, two additional air connections allow the stop to be extended and retracted independently.
Basic housing made of hard anodized aluminum and stop plate made of hardened steel.
PRODUCT WEIGHT
ASM-605-…-15-…: 3,8 kg
PNEUMATIC FUNCTION
The ASM-605 stoppers are available in single-acting (EW) and double-acting (DW) versions.
EW and DW refer to the function of the vertical stroke, i.e., raising and lowering.
The EW version has an air connection (P1) on the front for lowering the stopper.
In the EW version, the stopper is raised by an integrated compression spring as soon as air connection P1 is not pressurized.

In the DW version, air connection P2 must be pressurized to raise the stopper.

Air connection ports P3 and P4 are located on the back of the stopper, allowing the stopper to be extended and retracted.

EFFECTIVE PISTON AREAS
The forces are dependent on the pneumatic pressure, the piston surface and the spring force.
During the respective working movements, the following piston surfaces are subjected to compressed air:
Piston surface for lowering: 1649 mm²
Piston surface to raise (only for DW-versions): 1963 mm²
piston surface for extending the damping: 2513 mm²
piston surface for retracting the damping: 1056 mm²
SPRING FORCES
Spring force in raised position: F1 = 100 N
Spring force in lowered position: F2 = 250 N
TEMPERATURE RANGE
Standard version: -20°C to +80°C
-E version: +5°C / +60°C
OPERATING PRESSURE AND AIR CONSUMPTION
Operating pressure:
pmin = 4 bar
pmax = 8 bar
Compressed air quality:
ISO 8573-1 grade 4 or better
Size of the holes for air connection: G1/8
EW – Cylinder volume per cycle (lowering, extending the stop): 125.3 cm³
DW – Cylinder volume per cycle (lowering, extending, and raising the stop): 154.7 cm³
Cylinder volume for retracting the stop with connection P4: 42.2 cm³
The air consumption Q in “Norm litres” Nl can be calculated with these cylinder volumes and is specified in the operating manual
POSITION QUERY
With the version ASM-620-EW-15-I, the upper position and the lowered position can be queried using inductive sensors.
With the version ASM-620-EW-15-E, the upper position and the lowered position can be queried using T-slos magnetic field sensors.
ADJUSTMENT OF DAMPING
The damping effect can be adjusted on the top of the device at the ASM-605 series by using a slotted screwdriver. The setting direction is marked on the device. The marks have the following meaning:
+ … increased damping effect
– … reduce the damping effect.
MAINTENANCE WORK
No maintenance work is required.
The area around the stop must be clean and free of dirt and chips to ensure precise positioning of the workpiece carrier.
SCOPE OF SUPPLY
The devices in standard configuration are supplied without accessories.
The accessories are freely selectable and adapt to the ambient conditions.
For variants with a three-digit number at the end of the type code, accessories are sometimes included in the scope of delivery.
